No franchise has had such a wide variation between its peaks and valleys than the WWE video game franchise, first established with WWF Smackdown! on the original PlayStation in 2000. THQ recently put out their announcement trailer for the franchise’s newest addition, WWE ’13. At the forefront of both the trailer and box art were CM Punk himself.
The trailer mostly focuses on CM Punk’s antics in various footage from Raw tapings. There is some gameplay footage shown, depicting what THQ has described as, “completely revamped, realistic audio and jaw-dropping spectacular moments like ring breaks and barricade crashes,” coupled with the ability to, “play as legendary superstars including “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Undertaker and Mankind, or present-day icons like cover superstar CM Punk, Sheamus and Chris Jericho.” Personally I think they should revamp the franchise all the way back to Smackdown vs. Raw 2011, but that is just me.
WWE ’13 is slated to be released on October 30th, 2012 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii.
