Atlus has confirmed today that the Xbox 360 version of their forthcoming fighting game Persona 4: Arena has some rather serious online issues. Confirmation comes via an update to the official Persona blog. Japanese players are apparently experiencing far more lag than expected. Atlus is currently investigating the issues, but in the mean time they suggest that 360 players choose the "custom match" and then the "only the same area" and "only good connection" settings for optimal results.

They've specified that the issues are only present in the 360 version of the game.

It's a bit unfortunate that the Xbox 360 version of the game is crippled considering it was already destined to fair far worse than the PS3 version in terms of Japanese sales. Hopefully these issues will be alleviated before Persona 4: Arena's North American launch on August 7th.
