Xbox Executive Blair Westlake Resigns from Microsoft, Citing Their “New Direction” as Reason

on January 16, 2014 9:11 PM

Xbox executive Blair Westlake, the corporate VP of Microsoft’s Media and Entertainment Group, has official resigned from the company just days after his appearance at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. His reason?

It has become clear to me that the organization is moving in a direction that does not fit either my expertise or my skill sets.

Westlake then continues on that he he has worked with “numerous talented and professional people” and that this decision to leave is “in the best interest of all parties concerned.” He did not expand upon what he meant by Microsoft’s new direction, however.
