Xbox One Breaks the PS4’s NPD Winning Streak, Brings Microsoft Back on Top

on August 11, 2016 9:13 PM

The PS4 has been on top of the NPD monthly releases for several months, but according to the statistics firm, the combo has now been broken.

Microsoft announced today that Xbox One was the best selling console in July in the United States. We also learn that total gaming hours on Xbox One were up 18% year-on-year, reaching a grand total of 1.55 billion hours.

Momentum can certainly carry over to August, with the launch of Xbox One S in its various configurations between August 2nd and August 23rd. Microsoft confirmed that the 2TB version sold out in the UK and nearly sold out in the United States, so they’re probably quite confident about this month as well.
