With the Xbox One lagging quite a bit in overall sales in Japan, many games did not manage to push through enough sales to even appear in the top 50 Media Create charts.
The perhaps unlikely hero that brought a green-cased game back into the ranking is Rare Replay, that managed to place 44th in last week’s charts.
Considering that there are just south of 55,000 Xbox One consoles in Japanese homes, that’s quite the achievement for Rare’s latest labor of love.
Ultimately, if you think about it, the result isn’t that surprising. Japanese gamers love their retro games, and Rare Replay is basically a retro gamer’s wet dream. Where new AAA games fail, leave it to oldies but goldies to succeed.
