While the Xbox One is just a few short weeks away from release at this point with the holidays right around the corner, those looking to use their current headsets from their Xbox 360s or pair of third-party headsets (like those from Turtle Beach) will have to wait a little longer before they can be used.

Microsoft announced previously that the Xbox One will come packed in with a basic chat-only headset mic, but for those that want to use either their current-gen Xbox 360 headset or a third-party pair of headsets, an adapter will be released to allow compatibility with the Xbox One for those mics. Unfortunately, a report by CVG shows that the adapter will not be heading out to gamers until after the Xbox One's launch in November, and won't be available until early 2014.

Specifically, the adapter will allow current-gen headsets to be used on Xbox One, in addition to new third-party headsets that will be released specifically for Xbox One, as Microsoft's latest console will use a new input that will not be compatible with previous headsets without the adapter, such as the original Xbox 360 headsets.

In the meantime, the Xbox One headset adapter is currently anticipating release on early 2014, and will be sold both separately and included with some third-party headsets for Xbox One, such as the new XO FOUR and XO SEVEN model headsets from Turtle Beach that will also be releasing early next year.

Microsoft will be releasing Xbox One this holiday season on November 22nd, 2013.
