The Xbox One has finally launched in Japan, and while it didn't exactly push Japanese gamers to line up in front of the stores, its 24 hour-long launch marathon was appreciated by its almost 237,000 viewers.
Nico Nico has a rating system that prompts viewers to vote on whether they liked a broadcast or not, and the results were as follows:
- It was very good: 72.5%
- It was pretty good: 11.6%
- It was average: 7.1%
- It wasn’t very good: 1.9%
- It was bad: 6.8%
That sums up to a 84.1% of positive feedback, which is definitely a good result for a brand like Xbox, which isn't universally loved in Japan. The stream was definitely quite fun, and at times even a bit goofy, but its audience appreciated the effort and content.
In comparison the launch event for the PS4 back in February achieved similar results, earning an 87.8% positive feedback.
It'll be interesting to see on Wednesday with the Media Create charts if the appreciation for the event turned into actual sales.
