According to a press release from Microsoft, the NPD crowned the XBox One as the victor over its rival PS4 for the second month in a row.

The announcement claims that the console was the best selling in the United States for the month of August, thanks to the penetration of the Xbox One S, which is boasted as “the only console available this holiday with built-in UHD 4K Blu-ray, 4K video streaming, and HDR.”

Total gaming hours on Xbox Live also saw a boost, incresing 42% year-on-year.

It’ll certainly be interesting to see if the upcoming PS4 Slim will turn the tables again, or if Microsoft will be able to keep the lead through the holidays.

He is also one of the few surviving fans of the flight simulator genre on Earth.
