Xenoblade Chronicles X’s “Dolls” Mecha Renamed to “Skells” By Nintendo for Western Version

During the latest Nintendo Direct broadcast, we learned that the “Dolls” mecha that are a very relevant part of the Wii U exclusive Xenoblade Chronicles X have been renamed to “Skells.”

We don’t know the reason behind this change, but the only reason I can think of is that Nintendo wanted to remove┬áthe somewhat feminine idea conveyed by the name “doll” and change it into something more generic and genderless, but that is just my personal speculation.

Personally, I definitely favored the original name, and this is just another example in which localization impacts the original feel of the game.

Your mileage may vary on whether that’s an issue for you or not, but I guess at least we’re getting the game without all the teeth grinding we had to go trough with the original Xenoblade Chronicles.
