Today Sega announced with a press release that Yakuza 6: The Song of Life has shipped over 500,000 copies in Japan and Asia since its release exclusively for PS4 on December 8th.

On top of this, we also learn that the shipments of the new game pushed the cumulative sell-in of the series to over 9 million copies.

Just on Wednesday, we learned that the game has sold  218,168 copies in Japan as of Sunday, but quite obviously shipments including the Asian region, where the Yakuza series is fairly popular, are higher than that.

If you want to see what the game looks like, you can check out the first 80 minutes, and 80 more featuring fighting and minigames.

We also have some footage of the included port of Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown, and two videos of the sexy and funny “live chat” minigame.

While western gamers will have to wait until early 2018 to get a taste of this game with English subtitles. We’ll get Yakuza 0 on January January 24th, 2017, and Yakuza Kiwami (the full remake of the original Yakuza) next summer to keep us busy. It’s going to be a Yakuza year, that’s for sure.
