Yooka-Laylee Gets a Host of New Details, Screenshots, and Toybox Release Window

Banjo-Kazooie‘s spiritual successor, Yooka-Laylee is closer than ever to its slated October release, and to celebrate, developer Playtonic has released a ton of new details of the game, alongside an official Yooka-Laylee webpage.

According to the update, the game will focus on the evil corporate takeover from the evil Captial B. In order to stop the “corporate creep” Yooka and Laylee will need to explore and collect the magical Pagies of the Grand Tomes.

Like any truly great mascot-based 3D platformer, Pagies won’t be the only collectable — the duo will need to collect Quills to purchase new moves.

To wrap everything up, Playtonic announced that their Kickstarter backers who nabbed the “Toybox” option will have access to it soon. For those out of the loop, Toybox is Yooka-Laylee‘s spoiler-free demo that let’s Kickstarter backers try the mechanics of the game. The standalone gameplay experience will come out sometime in July.

Yooka-Laylee has no final release date, however you can expect the game out in October 2016 on PC, PlayStation 4, Wii U, and Xbox One. Check out the new screenshots below:
