With inspiration drawn straight from classic platformers, the Kickstarter-funded Yooka-Laylee certainly has a lot to live up to (alongside its many, many donations received), with a new trailer showcasing its vibrant gameplay and a release window.

A new trailer for the upcoming platformer Yooka-Laylee was released by developer Playtonic Games, with the trailer having also revealed that the game is targeting a release window of Q1 2017, putting it at early next year.

The trailer also provides one of the first glimpses of the title in action, with plenty of colorful, visually-appealing worlds that will definitely take gamers back to a happier place, with the game taking inspiration from classic games like Banjo-Kazooie and more.

An update on the game’s Kickstarter page explained that originally, the game had targeted release for this upcoming October (as projected in the original Kickstarter), though the team had decided “it would prefer to add a few extra months’ polish to the game schedule,” to “allow us to deliver a better game to the tens-of-thousands of you who’ve supported us throughout development.”

Yooka-Laylee is currently in development for PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, PC, Mac, and Linux, with a release window of Q1 2017 currently being targeted. In the meantime, you can check out the new trailer for the title below, along with several new screenshots:
