Recently, the Ubisoft team developing Beyond Good and Evil 2, the sequel to the classic game released on Gamecube, Playstation 2, and Xbox, showed off some new gameplay footage of their new title. The development team answered some questions while providing us with some new footage to enjoy. The team also gathered some questions from the chat and answered them on the game's website, and an answer to one of those questions might not please many gamers.

The Beyond Good and Evil 2 Developers were asked if the game would require an internet connection even if they were playing through the game solo. The team stating:

"Beyond Good and Evil 2 is an online, multiplayer game with a rich co-op and seamless experience. As such, the game will only be playable with an internet connection in order to have seamless navigation, receive dynamic updates, and play with friends (which is certainly better when you're playing as a Space Pirate!). The choice to play co-op, however, remains yours to make, so playing BGE2 solo is absolutely possible if you're into that lone Space Pirate kinda thing..."

While I have to believe that most gamers now in days have an internet connection at all times, there is still a select few out there that do not. Some might even have data caps and any more internet usage will make their bill skyrocket.

It is pretty clear that the sequel is taking the direction of the game in a vastly different way compared to the original title. We probably still have a long way to go before the game actually releases so it is possible that some of the game's aspects will change.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 does not have a release date yet and is not confirmed for any consoles.
