2011 is the Year of 3D, Says Sony

March 22, 2011

Almost as if in response to our editorial yesterday decrying the implementation of 3D over other features, the PlayStation blog has been updated with a new post celebrating 3D and calling 2011 the “Year of 3D”. An advertisement promises nearly thirty 3D enabled titles by year end and lists Killzone 3, Uncharted 3 and SOCOM 4 (among others) as the coming attractions.

The blog post (and accompanying ad) also brag a bit about how reception to 3D on the console has been, and how its user base as grown, saying things like:

“In one week, there were more than 83,000 downloads of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2011: The 3-D Experience Exclusive Sneak Peek.”

There is actually a lot more bragging to be done, which you can check out in the rest of the advertisement from above, after the break. I honestly do hope that out of all of these triple-A 3D releases, at least one of them also has 1080p. Because I don’t have a 3D HD TV, but I do have an HD and I’m sure most of America is in the same boat.
