After three loaded days of professional Heroes of the Storm play at the Blizzard Arena in Los Angeles, Team Dignitas defeated Leftovers to win the Phase Two 2018 HGC Western Clash.

From the start, Team Dignitas was the favorite to win for the Europe region. However, Leftovers was not the team expected to be the opposition. North America's HeroesHearth Esports was the favorite as the number one seed for their region. Thanks to some aggressive strategies, the fourth-seeded Leftovers was able to knock them down to the lower bracket in the first round.

That is just one of a few unexpected turns at the HGC Western Clash. This includes the NA third seed Team Freedom and Leftovers fighting for the fight in the Grand Finals.

Once the contenders of the HGC Western Clash Grand Finals were known, Team Dignitas didn't take too much time to take it home. In just three matches -- the EU squad had a game advantage as the winner of the upper bracket -- Team Dignitas swept Leftovers in the best-of-7 match. Leftovers did win the hearts of many during their match thanks to the Gazlowe pick.

As the winners of the second 2018 HGC Western Clash, Team Dignitas earned the trophy, the cash prize, and an additional spot for their region at the HGC Finals later this year. This win means that Team Dignitas has taken home two Western Clash titles in the same year. Here are the results from the tournament:

  1. Team Dignitas (EU) - $30,000
  2. Leftovers (EU) - $20,000
  3. Team Freedom (NA) - $15,000
  4. Method (EU) - $10,000

If you want to watch more HGC, you won't have to wait too long. The 2018 Eastern Clash will pin the best teams in Asia against each other in Incheon, South Korea starting on August 17. Like the Western Clash, the Eastern Clash will help decide which region will get an additional spot at the HGC Finals at BlizzCon 2018.
