343 Industries Clarifies Xbox Store Listing for Halo 3: ODST Release Date was a Placeholder, Final Testing Still Continues

Yesterday sent many Halo fans in a flurry of excitement after a placeholder release date for the upcoming remastered version of Halo 3: ODST was reported for launch this week, though at the moment it seems fans waiting to jump back into the cult-classic title will have to wait just a little longer, according to a new clarification from developer 343 Industries.

A pair of tweets sent out by 343 Industries through the official Halo Twitter account confirmed that the Xbox Store website, which had a release date of May 29th, 2015 listed for the upcoming remastered release of Halo 3: ODST, was merely a placeholder release date, and clarified that the title’s release date is still unknown at this time.

343 detailed that final testing for the re-release of Halo 3: ODST is still underway in the game’s development, apologizing for the confusion caused by the unexpected release date and instead detailing that the company “will make an official announcement once our release date is determined.”

Halo 3: ODST is set to release as part of the Halo: Master Chief Collection, which developer 343 Industries is providing for free following the Xbox One-exclusive title’s notoriously buggy launch, for those that purchased the game before December 19th, 2014. 343 Industries previously mentioned that the title was expected for release this month, though that no longer seems to be the case: more details from the studio on Halo 3: ODST‘s inclusion the The Master Chief Collection are expected in the near future.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is available exclusively for Xbox One.
