There has been one major question surrounding every noteworthy multiplayer game for the past year now: when is a battle royale game mode coming? When it comes to the battle royale's appearance in one of the forefathers of multiplayer shooters though, you might not want to get your hopes up.

In a recent live stream on the Halo Mixer channel, 343 Industries sounded pretty uninterested in the idea of bringing battle royale to the upcoming Halo Infinite. Jeff Easterling, a writer at 343 who is also known as Grim Brother One said, “I’ll tell you right now, the only BR we’re interested in is Battle Rifle. The original BR. So, calm yourself.”

Easterling's comment seemed to be said more in jest than anything, but it's the first word we have heard regarding the popular game mode coming to Halo Infinite. With Halo Infinite being so far from release, we likely won't get official confirmation of the mode's inclusion, or lack thereof, for quite some time. If Easterling's comments are sincere though, it'd definitely prove that not every developer is hopping on the battle royale train.

Personally, I think of all the major triple-a first-person shooters -- COD, Battlefield, Halo -- battle royale would be best suited for Halo over the others. By the time Halo Infinite even releases though, the genre could've run its course.

For more on Halo Infinite, you can check out the reveal trailer from last month at E3, which is literally the only major news we have regarding the project at the moment.
