Across its many games, novels, graphic novels, and a digital short series, the Halo franchise has always had a knack for a grand, epic mythology, and with its upcoming release on Xbox One with Halo 5: Guardians, the series’ story is about to get even bigger, thanks to some new details for the game.

Speaking in an interview, 343 Industries head Bonnie Ross revealed some new details about the upcoming Xbox One title for the series, most prominently revealing the name of the mysterious new character shown alongside Master Chief on the game’s cover art, known as Agent Locke. In addition, Ross also revealed that the upcoming Ridley Scott-produced digital series will focus on the backstory of Locke, allowing players to be familiar with his character and his origin before the release of Guardians.

Scott’s digital series will be included with this fall’s Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Xbox One, with Steven Spielberg’s Halo series set to arrive in Fall 2015, most likely to coincide with Halo 5: Guardians’ release next fall, as well, with Ross implying that both digital series will be heavily tied into the next original Halo game on Xbox One.
