The Last of Us Part 2's enemy list is a long one with threats around every corner but let's take a look at the top 5 out of the entire game.

Keeping players on their toes is what Naughty Dog loves to do best. Whether it's keeping secrets of what they are up to next close to their chest or including some eye-watering narrative throughout their game, fans of the franchise are always going to be hit with some surprises and honestly, that's the way we like it.

It goes without saying that TLOU2 has some horrendous foes shattered at every corner of its post-apocalyptic world and with its already grim environments, these enemies are the icing on the terror cake. Although everyone will have different opinions on what makes a good hostile attacker, here are my top five personal favourites.

5. Dogs

The Last of Us™ Part II_20200603152634

When I found out that dogs were a part of the enemy package in The Last of Us 2, I really wasn't pleased. Nothing hurts my heart more than animals in games, and obviously out of games too, in pain or dying. The fact that, for the most part, Ellie has to murder these trained-to-kill dogs is probably one of the worst things I've had to experience in a video game.

What makes these dogs scary is the fact that they can sniff Ellie out no matter where she is and go into attack mode as soon as she's spotted. Unlike the infected where you can hide and just keep quiet, dogs use their super powerful sniffer and excellent hearing to track Ellie down. If you don't kill them, which is pretty awful, their ability to rip your throat out in seconds while alerting their owner is something you seriously want to avoid.

4. Stalkers

Stalkers are sneaky buggers who love nothing more than to play a game of hide and seek with the player making them not only scary but also frustrating. As they slip and slide from one area to the other, you are never quite sure where they will pop up from giving you a real fright when they jump up in front of you.

Showcasing a higher intelligence than the other infected, Stalkers can perform premeditated attacks making these cunning creatures a challenge on all accounts.

3. Clickers

For those who have played through The Last of Us, the appearance of Clickers in TLOU2 is of no surprise. Even so, their entire presence sets my nerves on high alert. That eerie clicking sound that they use to hunt is not only tense but when they do spot you, their high pitched scream is enough to send you to an early grave.

They might not be able to see, but don't let that fool you. They are also pretty fast too and once they grab ahold of you, you can say goodbye to your throat.

2. Seraphites

Scars or Seraphites are a heavy presence throughout TLOU2. The religious cult holds no bounds when it comes to sacrificing those they believe to have "nestled with sin" which includes hanging people and cutting their organs out while still alive.

Due to the overall dinginess throughout TLOU2, the Scars blend in far too easily into the environment with their dark clothes which make it simple for them to see you before you see them adding to the fear factor when you know they are around. Once you hear that unnerving whistle they use to communicate with each other, you better find a way to hide or face an axe or arrow in your skull.

1. The Rat King

I wouldn't call myself a particularly brave person when it comes to playing out scary scenes in video games but when I tell you that I think I may have shaved off a few years from my life upon seeing The Rat King in TLOU2, I'm not joking.

This super-organism composed of Stalkers, Clickers, and a Bloater that have been fused together by the Cordyceps fungus is a huge mess of absolute terror. Watching it chase after Abby, breaking down walls and anything else in its path, was one of the worst and best moments for me in gaming. This beautifully disgusting beast will always be a part of my nightmares.
