5 Star Wrestling Dropkicks New Screenshots

Last year in April, some gamers may remember hearing about an indie wrestling game named 5 Star Wrestling, which looked to knock the WWE franchise off its pedestal. The 15-man indie studio SeriousParody seeks to do this by returning wrestling games to a focus on tactical “ring psychology,” something that the developers feel is missing from current games. Now the PS3-exclusive is back with five new screenshots to show off the graphical progress made since last we heard about the game.

The developer has reported that while many fans were disappointed that 5 Star Wrestling didn’t come out last year as originally planned, the new screenshots above and below prove why the indie project has needed more time. As you can see in the images, there’s a great deal of change in the Ragnabrök character model from August 2013 to January 2014, and the other screenshots show off the work in progress of the rings, lighting, and mechanics of the game.

5 Star Wrestling will be coming sometime this year to the PS3, with characters based on some of your favorite wrestlers. Stay tuned for more news as the project develops.
