Five Year Ignition Project Canceled

Five years is a long time. You can earn a college degree, build a house, or even get famous in such a stretch of time. In the gaming industry, five years is a development cycle ran by only the most ambitious and well funded of titles. Therefore, a title being cancelled after such a development cycle is a pure tragedy.

With the cancelling of this title, a project WarDevil, some thirty jobs have been cut, leaving dozens of employees dwindling. As an ambitious title boasting a princely 60 FPS, many expected WarDevil to be outsourced, which unfortunately has not become the case.

It is speculated that the cancelling of this project is only the front end of Ignition’s problems and that the publisher’s London location is in danger of closure, given the fact that WarDevil was headed by the enclosed team. Whether or not this is true remains to be seen. WarDevil would have been available on the Xbox 360 and PS3.
