At the closure of the New York Stock Exchange, Microsoft announced its financial result for the second quarter of fiscal year 2015, ended on December 31st.

First of all, we learn that the company shipped 6.6 Million Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles during the quarter. Unfortunately no figures were given for each console separately.

In addition to that, we also get to know the latest financial figures related to the period between September 1st and December 31st, showing solid performance for the business as a whole.

Below we can also see the results specific to the Computing and Gaming Hardware division, that mentioned successful promotions driving Xbox One installed base and granting market leadership in the US during the holidays. On the other hand, Xbox 360 sales declined due to the popularity of new generation platforms. Revenue decreased 20% for the Xbox platform as a whole compared to the same quarter last year (which was the quarter in which Xbox One launched).

Completing the picture is First Party games revenue up by 79% thanks to Minecraft, Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Forza Horizon 2, while Xbox Live revenue was also up 42%.
