64 New Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Screenshots and Artwork Pieces Show Monsters and a Beautiful World

Square Enix published today a large batch of new screenshots and artwork of the upcoming Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.

The concept artwork showcases quite a few of the monsters that will populate the reborn Eorzea, including the primals Bahamuth and Odin. The screenshots focus on the three city states of Ul’dah, Limsa Lominsa and Gridania, and on the surrounding areas.

Locations new and old definitely shine under a new light (quite literally considering that they’re bathed in a completely new lighting engine), and showcase an impressive level of detail leaps and bounds better than what was included in the first version of the game.

Looking at the screenshots it’s very hard not to be excited for the upcoming beta phase 3 coming at the beginning of June, that will let us explore those beautiful areas. If you’re excited like I am, you can quench your thirst for beautiful vistas and angry (or cute, since the adorable Mandragora make a comeback) critters by checking out the gallery at the bottom of this post.

In addition to the screenshots Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida (that I recently interviewed here) posted his 45th Letter from the Producer, pretty much confirming what we already learned during the Nico Nico Chokaigi 2 event in Tokyo: the game will be released this summer and preorders will open at the end of this month (at the event Yoshida-san specified around the 20th), paired with the much awaited release date announcement.
