As we've seen time and time again, gaming can and should be enjoyed by people of all ages. Not only can it have cognitive benefits especially for the older generation, but it can help to improve overall mental health and that's something we certainly need more of living in 2020. When Rockstar Games launched Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018 (has it really been that long already?) players flocked to its open world, western-themed environment making it one of the top video games of the generation. But, if like me, you may not have had time to finish it given that it's a fairly hefty story, that's ok as a 65-year-old fan of the game has completed it over 30 times making up for all of our inactivity.

Over on good old Reddit, user ApeWatcher told the story of how his 65-year-old dad sits down to play hours and hours worth of Red Dead Redemption 2 each and every day and by doing so, the RDR2 enthusiast has completed the story mode over 30 times. As gamers, we all know how many video games that are out there that just need to be played but don't bother recommending them to ApeWatcher's father as he states that he's tried to sway his dad with games like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt but since there are no cowboys in it, he just isn't that interested so, for now at least, Red Dead Redemption 2 is where he'll be resting his hat. As you can see from the picture below, ApeWatcher's dad sure does look comfy in that chair and even has his very own RDR2 merch to boot.

My 65 year old dad. He plays Red dead 2 story mode for hours every day. He finished the story 30+ times at this point. I’ve tried getting him into other games but he only wants to play Red Dead 2. from r/RDR2

You would be correct to think that given how many times ApeWatcher's dad has completed Red Dead Redemption 2, he would have a 100% completion rate or even platinumed it but unfortunately, because of not getting a handle on RDR2's gambling challenges, he hasn't been able to obtain it yet. Red Dead Online multiplayer mode isn't for everyone and this is mostly due to its lack of content and crazy microtransactions and although it still has its dedicated players, ApeWatcher's dad feels that it just isn't for him so he's happy to stick with Red Dead Redemption 2's story. Throughout the comment section in the Reddit post, folks talked about how great it would be for ApeWatcher's dad if Rockstar did a Red Dead Redemption remaster so he could continue with the story and although the original Red Dead Redemption is on Xbox One due to backward compatibility, it's not currently available on the PS4 (that ApeWatcher's dad owns) so without a PlayStation Now subscription and his uncertain internet availability, it may not be currently workable for him. With Rockstar probably busy working on GTA, a Red Dead Redemption remaster is something that we won't hear about for quite some time.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. If you haven’t managed to pick up the game yet, you can grab the game physically on Amazon to start galloping around and help support DualShockers.
