While HBO's Game of Thrones may have ended last year to underwhelming fanfare, those looking for a chance to return to Westeros and connive with their friends have the opportunity to live out their power fantasies with the popular board game based on the series. Announced earlier this year by Asmodee DigitalA Game of Thrones: The Board Game - Digital Edition has launched this week on Steam and will let you reenact (or reshape) the battle for power that the series has made famous.

Alongside its release this week for PC and Mac on Steam, Asmodee Digital has released the official launch trailer for the digital edition of A Game of Thrones: The Board Game with gameplay and an overview of the tabletop adaptation of the book series. Spoilers: expect lots of backstabbing and political alliances.

You can check out the official trailer below:

For those unfamiliar with the game, the board game based on the A Song of Ice and Fire series takes the form of a strategy game that will likely appeal to fans of RiskDiplomacy, and other iconic tabletop strategy games. However, A Game of Thrones also draws heavily on the power grabbing and manipulation at the heart of the series, as players will have to form (and break) alliances with other players to be the most powerful, dominant kingdom in Westeros by commanding their armies.

By and large, the Digital Edition seems pretty faithful to the original tabletop version, and supports online multiplayer for up to six players and also has the option to play with CPU opponents. While retailing for $19.99, Asmodee Digital is offering a launch discount on the game at $15.99 from now through October 13, 2020 for its first week of release.

A Game of Thrones: The Board Game - Digital Edition is out now on PC and Mac.
