Not even a year after the release of A Hat in Time, developer Gears for Breakfast appears to have more to say about the 3D platformer. A "special announcement" about the game will come during Gamescom, according to a fun tweet from the game's official account. The tweet offered no specific details, only sharing a cute GIF of characters Hat Girl and DJ Grooves showing off some sick dance moves.

The quirky action-adventure title was inspired by Nintendo 64 platformers such as Super Mario 64 and Banjo-Kazooie, but the hopes of Nintendo fans were dashed when Gears for Breakfast denied that the game would come to Switch in a now-deleted tweet. With few ideas on what this announcement could be, some are holding on to hope that the developer has changed their minds and will bring A Hat in Time to the console.

The game eventually made its way to PS4 and Xbox One, eventually reaching a milestone of over 500,000 copies sold this past summer. A Switch port could bring A Hat in Time to a larger audience—or perhaps the announcement will simply be new DLC, or a special re-release of the game to commemorate its success. We'll soon find out when Gamescom begins on August 21.

As mentioned, A Hat in Time is available on PS4 and Xbox One, along with PC and Mac.
