A Movie About Gaming, Not a Video Game Movie

Confused by the title? Well we are all used to crappy movies based upon popular video games like Prince of Persia and Mortal Kombat, but Gamer looks to take a different angle. Gamer brought to you by Lionsgate is an interesting look at incorporating video games into a movie while not relying on the plot of something existing. Gamer brings you to a future where players control real-life players that are inmates battling for freedom. Think of it a bit as Deathrace, but with a gamer controlling the fate of the players. The title looks to touch as many different genres as possible, not only gaming, seeing as the cast is as diverse as possible. You can expect to see Ludacris (rapper fame), Gerard Butler (300 fame), Keith Jardine (UFC fame), Michael Hall (Dexter) and I wouldn’t be surprised if Samuel L. Jackson makes a cameo.

Gamer looks to take a different angle to gaming and I hope this lives up to hype. I have to say that I am a bit surprised that more gaming sites have not really given this title any play yet. Will you be catching Gamer?

Look out for Gamer coming to a movie theater near you this September.
