miHoYo, during the announcements and Sneak Peak stream for Version 1.4 of Genshin Impact, announced a brand new Archon Quest will be added for the occasion, We Will Be Reunited - the Quest will most notably feature the Traveler meeting with the other sibling, and a boss fight against a new monster, the Abyss Herald. However, while Ver 1.4 launched on March 17, the new Archon Quest and the Abyss Herald still aren't in the game - when will they be added?

When is the Abyss Herald and the We Will Be Reunited quest coming?

Right now, miHoYo only announced that the Chapter I: Act IV - We Will Be Reunited will be added at a later date. However, looking at how past events have worked, we can pinpoint when the quest and the Abyss Herald will be released.

Currently, the flagship event of Ver1.4 Windblume Festival is ongoing till April 4, with several subquests and events.

UPDATE: miHoYo announced on April 3 that the Chapter I: Act IV - We Will Be Reunited will be added on April 12, 2021.

  • INAZUMA – Release date, lore, characters and hints

This would be the exact pattern as what happened with the Vishaps and Where to Find Them event, which focused on the Exploration mechanic and included some fights with Vishaps. The event was announced during the Ver 1.3 stream, but was only added to the game several weeks after the launch of 1.3, once the end of the Lantern Festival.

Overall, Genshin Impact updates are always divided into two halves like these, and all the events part of the second half of Ver 1.4 should launch once the Windblume Festival has ended.

What's the Abyss Herald?

As explained by Dainsleif in the first part of the Bough Keeper Dainsleif quest, Abyss Heralds are beings more powerful than Abyss Mages, and are basically high ranked officers of the Abyss Order. miHoYo already introduced an Abyss Herald which uses Hydro attacks in the Ver 1.4 trailer above.

Moreover, some of the recent leaks hinted towards the existence of Abyss Heralds for each of the elements in Teyvat.

Genshin Impact is available on PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile. A Switch version is coming too.
