Hack and slash classic from yesteryear Crossed Swords has just made an appearance on Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch's digital stores.

Originally released in 1991, Crossed Swords is a blend of hack and slash action mixed with RPG elements. The game takes place in a classic dark fantasy setting where you play as a knight fighting to save the enchanted land of Belkana from the evil wrath of a demonic warlord named Nausizz. In order to do so, you must battle against waves of orcs, armored enemies, and monsters.

The thing that sets Crossed Swords apart from many other arcade titles of its time is the fact that it's played from a third-person perspective. The camera is situated directly behind your character. When the combat begins, the knight is portrayed in a wireframe silhouette ensuring that the player can clearly see their enemies and accurately engage them. On top of this, there is also an RPG-like mechanic added to the game. Throughout your journey through Belkana, you'll collect gold from fallen foes and earn rewards from the people you save. The gold can then be traded to a merchant to upgrade your weapons and items to help you on your quest.

ACA NeoGeo Crossed Swords is available to purchase now on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One for $7.99. Crossed Swords will also be available as part of the NeoGeo Mini International system. Other SNK classics like Athena and Psycho Soldier can be rediscovered on SNK 40th Anniversary Collection when it arrives on Nintendo Switch on November 13, 2018.
