Another Aircraft Profile trailer for Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown was released today showing off one of the icons of the series: the F-22A Raptor.

Manufactured by Lockheed Martin Aeronautics and Boeing Defense, Space & Security, the F-22A costs about $150 million USD each and were introduced into service in 2005. This aircraft appeared in my personal favorite entry, Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies, as the cover aircraft and has appeared in just about every Ace Combat game since. Though the F-22A is generally considered an air-to-air fighter jet it is also capable of effective ground attacks, though usually picking it in the game is fueled by its sleek design than anything else.

Bandai Namco has also peeled back the curtain on Ace Combat 7's multiplayer modes, detailing a team deathmatch and its own version of battle royale. Team deathmatch is what you would expect with 4v4 race to the highest score. Meanwhile battle royale has eight players in a free for all to earn the most points by damaging and shooting down opponents. Players with more star marks than others are worth more points, creating a game mode that reminds me of Headhunter from Halo: Reach in which players would amass skulls by killing other players and become even more endangered the more skulls they collected. The better you do, the greater the chances other players will begin to gun for you, creating more tension than a standard free for all.

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is set to return to Strangereal on January 18, 2019 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with a PC port coming later on February 1. You can pick up the game via our handy Amazon link right now, as well as check out our interview with Producer Kazutoki Kono and check out the many trailers that have been appearing in the lead up to its release.

Clever girl! Speed, stealth, & superior combat abilities -- the F-22A Raptor has all of the above!
