During the PlayStation Experience keynote presentation hosted today by Sony Interactive Entertainment in Anaheim, California, Bandai Namco's Ace Combat 7 finally returned to the stage, providing a beautifully cinematic look at its world.

The trailer, that you can enjoy below, shows some interesting characters, that yet don't have a name, but it definitely appears that the western-centric style of Ace Combat: Assault Horizon has been abandoned (thank goodness).

We also get another look at the much welcome return to the fictional world of Strangereal, as the game appears to be set during a ward between Osea and the Kingdom of Erusea. This is actually an interesting detail, because in Ace Combat 4 Erusea is a Federal Republic. It could be an indication that the game is set after Ace 4 and Operation Katina, and probably after Ace Combat 5 as well, since it features Osea but no mention of a war with Erusea was made. After all, the two games are only a few years apart in the time line.

Of course, for now this is just my personal speculation, and we'll have to wait for a confirmation.

You can check out the trailer below, and if you want to reminisce, you can also watch the announcement trailer from last year. Ace Combat 7 has been announced for PS4 and PlayStation VR, even if the headset is not required to enjoy the game.
