Animal Crossing's Gaming Desk item draws some clear inspiration from some popular games, bringing real-world favorites into New Horizons.

The New Horizons 2.0 update introduced over 9000 new items, adding an even greater wealth of aesthetic furniture to the game.

One of these is the sleek Gaming Desk item. Aside from being able to live out your streamer dreams in Animal Crossing, you can also spot a few references to real-world games in the item's monitors.

THE AC:NH GAMING DESK ITEM

According to Nookipedia, the item will run you a costly 53,000 bells and an additional 7 customization kits to change the monitor patterns. The variations are:

  • Desktop
  • Third-Person Game
  • First-Person Game
  • Online RPG
  • Sim game
  • Rhythm Game
  • Stock Trading
  • Digital Audio Workstation

Though, looking at the different patterns, it definitely seems worth the high price. Each variation displays a unique monitor pattern, some of which contain references to some familiar favorites.

From the dark mode to the server layout, it's pretty clear that the leftmost screen here is a direct reference to Discord. Following that, the three other screens display what looks to be a first-person version of Splatoon.

Though full images for these items have yet to be released, a few other references are fairly easy to spot. The flashy buttons on the fretted guitar neck in the Rhythm Game pattern are similar to Guitar Hero, while the space racing game in the Third-Person Game screen certainly brings to mind F-Zero.

Though, the Online RPG and Sim game variations are a bit more difficult to place. The Sim Game has a distinct anime-esque aesthetic, so it could just be an Animal Crossing version of a dating sim. The Online RPG pattern has more of cartoon-y vibe to it, and displays the AC:NH Discord screen along with what looks like a screen capture program.

To round it all out, you can also get a matching gaming chair for 29,000 bells. These are all the current known details about the item, but if more about the other references is revealed, be sure to catch it here!
