Are you a fan of Call of Duty: Black Ops II? You’re in luck because Activision is conducting two special events this weekend. In celebration of the upcoming release of the final Apocalypse map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Treyarch has announced this weekend to offer Double XP. The event begins today and will run across all platforms and game modes until Monday, September 23, 10 a.m. PDT.

A Double XP weekend is not the only offering coming from Treyarch this week. The developer has also announced a free trial for the Call of Duty: Black Ops II Uprising DLC on Xbox Live. This pack contains four new multiplayer maps:

  • Vertigo, atop a Tacitus skyscraper in India so tall, it breaks the cloud layer
  • Encore, set in an ampitheatre after a London music festival
  • Magma, where lava has decided to invade a modern Japanese village
  • Studio, a Hollywood backlot reinvention of fan-favorite level Firing Range

In addition to these maps a  Zombie map called Mob of the Dead with actors Ray Liotta, Michael Madsen, Chazz Palminteri, and Joe Pantolianothe about an undead adventure set in Alcatraz is also available.

Those who have yet to purchase Uprising can download the DLC right now on the Xbox 360 and play it for free until Wednesday, September 25. If you decide on purchasing it afterwards, then it’ll cost you $14.99.

Apocalypse map pack releases September 26th, which will be followed by another Double XP weekend; this one enabling players to rank up their weapons twice as faster. This particular event starts Friday, September 27, and runs until Monday, September 30.
