Activision/Blizzard and Bungie Enter 10 Year Partnership to Birth New Game Universe

Activision/Blizzard and Bungie announced to the world today that they have entered an exclusive 10-year partnership that will bring to life a new universe of gaming. The gaming giants have also announced that Activision will now be the sole publisher and distributor for all Bungie titles across multiple platforms and devices. Bungie will remain an independent company and retain all of the intellectual property rights to the games to be created. This announcement is huge and now that the world knows where Bungie’s new home is we can all begin to speculate as to what kind of games this partnership will bring to the industry.

Harold Ryan, President of Bungie, stated that Activision’s “multi-platform experience and marketing expertise” were among the reasons this decision is the right one for Bungie. While this will most likely not result in that other system getting a Halo game, do not rule out a behemoth of a title coming from this duo in the near future. For the first time gamers may actually get the chance to see Bungie’s creative vision reach out and make appearances on platforms like PlayStation 3 or even Nintendo Wii. A new world is being crafted as we speak and it will be revealed in time. Until then all we can do is wait and wonder.
