The follow up to 2009’s Afro Samurai is both an episodic and canonical sequel to the hit anime series. This time players take control of Kuma, an important character in the anime series and a friend/foe of Afro’s. The first volume will release digitally only for PC and PlayStation 4 on September 22, 2015, with an Xbox One release coming sometime later.
Afro Samurai 2 will be a three part series, and feature the return of RZA to oversee the soundtrack which features original songs by indie hip-hop artists. You can purchase the three volume bundle for $34.99, or separately for $14.99 each. PlayStation Plus members get a 30% discount for $10 in savings. Alongside the announcement Steve Escalante, GM of Versus Evil, stated,
The developer, Redacted Studios, has been dreaming of launching this game, the way you are going to play it and experience it over the course of several volumes. It is a hip-hop opera that folds in a tragic family story with action-packed samurai action and a soundtrack from some amazing indie hip-hop artists. We can’t wait for the fans to get to experience the next phase in Afro Samurai action.
