Volition’s Agents of Mayhem has dug deep into the childhood of those belonging to my generation, and another ancient and beloved action hero stars in a cameo in the latest trailer.

If you’re close to my age, you’ll probably immediately recognize the upbeat tempo by Mike Post and Pete Carpenter of the Magnum, P.I. series from the eighties. There is even a Tom Selleck lookalike at the end.

Unfortunately, there’s no trace of the iconic Ferrari 308 GTS driven by Thomas Sullivan Magnum IV, nor of old dear Higgins, then played by the unforgettable John Hillerman.

Yet, it’s a lovely blast from the past, underlining the game’s action, even if the game’s cars can’t really compete with the class of a Ferrari. Guess Deep Silver spent everything in music royalties, but couldn’t license the car.

You can check it out below, and an older one here. You can also read our own preview of the game.

Agents of Mayhem releases on PC, PS4, and Xbox One August 15th.
