Aniplex announced on September 25 the release date for Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba season 2, and that the second part, the Entertainment District Arc, will have OP and ED theme songs by anime singer Aimer, called Zankyosanka and Asa ga Kuru.

Aimer is a young Japanese artist under the Sony Music Entertainment Japan label. She was born in Kumamoto on July 9, 1990. Her stage name comes from the word "Aimer" in French, the verb for "Love". Aimer started her singing career with the cover compilation Your Favorite Things on May 11, 2011, with Coldplay songs, Lady Gaga songs including Poker Face, and others.

Aimer released her first single, Rokutosei no Yoru, on September 7, 2021, and it was used as the ED of Studio Bones anime No.6. Later on, she released her second single, Re: pray on December 14, 2011. This was used as the 29th ED of Bleach.

Later on, Aimer started working with Hiroyuki Sawano, the popular composer of Attack on titan, KIll la Kill, or Xenoblade Chronicles X (which still isn't on Switch...). As part of SawanoHIroyuki[nZk], Sawano and Aimer worked together, and she sang for Gundam Unicorn or Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress.

Note that Hiroyuki Sawano's latest project is all but officially confirmed to be MMORPG Blue Protocol by Bandai Namco.

Lastly, it's interesting to note how LiSA and Aimer are connected. LiSA is the singer handling the Demon Slayer songs so far and who's returning for the theme songs of the Mugen Train Arc TV version. Both LiSA and Aimer were singing theme songs for Fate/Zero.

The anime based on Kinoko Nasu and Gen Urobuchi's novel was also produced by Studio Ufotable, just like Kimetsu no Yaiba. LiSA and Aimer working on Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2 make it a reunion, but one artist is sadly missing from the list, Kalafina. The group with Yuki Kajiura songs disbanded in 2019, though its members are still singing solo.

Aimer sings Kimetsu no Yaiba Yuukaku hen OP theme song Zankyosanka and ED Asa ga Kuru

The first episode of Kimetsu no Yaiba Yuukaku hen will be a one-hour special. Aimer will be singing the Opening theme song, Zankyosanka, and the Ending theme song, Asa ga Kuru.

Be sure to read our entry-level introduction guide to Fate/Zero and the Fate franchise if you'd like to learn more. Aimer is one of the most awesome artists in the younger generation of Anison, and it's great to see her back singing for an Ufotable project.
