Playstation has opened up with more details on creepy enigmatic PSP game Corpse Party. Published by XSeed Games, the horror adventure game boasts a schema similar to that of the Persona series and with the visual novel feel of Fate/stay Night. The game focuses on a group of eight students and one teacher trapped in a haunted elementary school. The story, split into five chapters each with a focus on a different set of characters, chronicles the group's desperate attempts to escape without going insane or losing their lives. The group struggles against the entities who have created the school and the restless spirits of past students who failed to escape this alternate dimension and met terrible, gruesome ends.

The creepiness doesn't end there. The Playstation Blog details an example of what happens when players fail to solve a puzzle and escape the ghosts:

"In one such instance, getting caught by your pursuer means being shoved into a shallow grave and slowly buried alive as you listen to one of the game’s strongest characters suffocating and retching under endless shovelfuls of dirt, begging for his life for almost five solid minutes before the last gasp of breath escapes his mouth and the “Wrong End” music plays. "

Corpse Party promises players three possible endings to achieve and twenty-four "Wrong End" deaths to witness. So if snuff stories and morbid curiosity are your thing, this game is just to die for.

Corpse Party is slated for release in North America on the PSP sometime this fall. The trailer can be viewed below.
