Since launching in December 2018, the Epic Games Store has been offering up free games on their service to help entice customers away from Steam. Next week, the team will be adding to that list with two games that have been in the news lately. Both Alan Wake and For Honor will be available for free from August 2 until August 9.

The Epic Games Store has seen its share of controversy in its young lifespan. That said, the list of games they've given out over the last eight months includes some great titles. They started with Subnautica and have since given out games like What Remains of Edith Finch, Axiom Verge, The Witness, and Moonlighter, among others. For Honor and Alan Wake slot right in there as titles that are worth a playthrough, especially when the price of admission is so low.

For Honor is starting season three of their third year next Thursday, making this a good time to jump in. Unfortunately, it looks like the version Epic is giving away is just the standard edition. That means you won't immediately have access to all the characters. However, it does give you a chance to try the game out with no investment.

Because For Honor is an M-rated title, Epic is also putting Alan Wake out for free. Just this week, developer Remedy has mentioned that they'd like to create a sequel after acquiring the rights earlier in the month. I'm not saying this move has anything to do with that, but it is good news to see the game continuing to be on the gaming world's mind.

Currently, you can pick up both Moonlighter and This War of Mine for free on the Epic Games Store. They'll be available until August 2 when Alan Wake and For Honor take their spot.
