Remedy Confirms They Could Bring Alan Wake to Other Platforms

Remedy Entertainment has officially stated that "we could bring Alan Wake to different platforms if we so choose."

Earlier today, Remedy confirmed that it had acquired the publishing rights to cult classic Alan Wake. Fans have wanted to see something new from the series for years, and now that dream seems more possible than ever. As Microsoft no longer owns the rights to the game, the door seems to be open for a possible multiplatform release of Alan Wake on platforms like Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Google Stadia. While Remedy did not confirm anything, a recent statement to Eurogamer states that a multiplatform release would be possible for Alan Wake.

According to a Remedy spokesperson “the only thing that we want to clarify, now that Remedy owns the publishing rights, is that we could bring Alan Wake to different platforms if we so choose.” While some may see this as a non-answer, it is clear that Remedy is aware of the IP’s popularity and the fact that they could now bring it to more people. That being said, we likely will not be hearing anything new about Alan Wake for the next couple of months, as the same spokesperson told Eurogamer that “We have nothing to announce for now. We are fully focused on Control releasing on 27th August.”

While a multiplatform release for Alan Wake would be great, Alan Wake 2 has been a major point of discussion between Remedy Entertainment fans for years. Remedy told DualShockers in 2018 that “We all love Alan Wake at Remedy and I think all of us want to see a new Alan Wake game,” and recently revealed to VG247 that work had been done on a sequel years ago but it never panned out. Hopefully, now that Remedy Entertainment is the sole owner of Alan Wake, we will see something new from the series after control.

If you want to learn more about Control, you can check out its latest trailer below prior to its August 27 release of PS4, Xbox One, and PC via the Epic Games Store. It is also available to pre-order on Amazon.
