Originally released in 2014, Alien: Isolation from developer Creative Assembly quickly became a hit not only for its rich adaptation of the Alien universe and story, but also for bringing players into a terrifying horror experience that rivaled what we saw with Ripley in the original film. That said, it appears that Isolation will be getting a new adaptation that allows viewers to see the game's story from a different angle.

IGN will be hosting a new digital series from 20th Century Fox that will adapt Alien: Isolation into a 7-part miniseries that primarily focuses on the narrative. Essentially, the miniseries will tell the story of Amanda Ripley that was seen in Isolation, but based around the game's cutscenes (along with some new material) and without the gameplay. All seven episodes of the miniseries will debut later today, February 28.

While some might question why you shouldn't just play the original game, the miniseries version of Alien: Isolation seems aimed at allowing a broader audience to experience this story set within the Alien universe in a more traditional format. Likewise, as much as I personally loved Alien: Isolation, it wasn't exactly much of a short game, so getting to watch the game's story in a more truncated, linear fashion might be a nice refresher for reliving Amanda's story all over again.

Alien: Isolation is available now on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Mac, and Linux. For a closer look at the digital series arriving today, you can check out the trailer below:
