Among Us fans are eagerly, and patiently, awaiting the game’s next big update, which will be focused around the new map, Airship. The map was shown off during The Game Awards in December 2021 and slated for an "early 2021" release date - however, despite development progressing smoothly, the map has yet to release. In the meantime, developers Innersloth has announced they've issued a new Among Us update on March 5. Here are the changes you need to know about.

What's Changing in the Among Us March Update?

The Among Us March Update is only a small one. It adds a new feature titled "Quickchat".

Further updates on March 5/6/8

The Among Us team shared details about further updates on March 6 - you can read them below:

"more updates:

- PC & Android versions fixed

- iOS & Switch submitted, waiting for store approval

- fixes: black screen bug, age gate to 13+, desync issues (make sure you're updated to version 2021.3.5)"

The Among Us team added a further update on March 8 - you can read the details here:

monday bug updates:

  • Polus ground & Android shadows fix coming
  • submitting Switch for approval
  • matchmaking/tasks/walking through walls fixed (if all are updated to v2021.3.5)

What is Quickchat in Among Us?

The developers have described the latest feature in their Steam update as follows:

"This is an easier, faster and safer option to play if you're using text chat! There will still be an options for free chat (toggle it On/Off in Settings), and if you're under the legal age limit you'll have Quickchat for you."

Effectively, it looks like players will have a wheel they can quickly select pre-loaded chat options. From an image posted on Twitter, these options will include locations, questions, accusations, responses and much more. This will make communication much easier in lobbies where players aren't using voice chat.

What are the server issues caused by the update?

Unfortunately, on adding the Quickchat feature to the game, Among Us has encountered some server problems. This has meant players have had problems connecting with each other in certain lobbies.

The Among Us developers had this to say on Twitter:

"oops looks like there's a glitch with lobbies and games on some platforms - working on a fix now!! sorry!! the joys of game development"

While it's frustrating that the game has gone down, spare a thought for the team. As well as developing new features and a new map, they are also having to combat server issues today, and at other points this week. Here's hoping they sort themselves out soon, but take your time InnerSloth!
