Amy Hennig to be Honored with Lifetime Achievement Award at GDC 2019
Amy Hennig will be honored with the Game Developers Choice Awards' most prestigious award in early 2019.
GDC 2019 is set to take place this coming March and during the conference’s annual Game Developers Choice Awards, one of the industry’s most recognizable faces will be honored with the ceremony’s most prestigious award.
As announced today, GDC will honor Amy Hennig with Lifetime Achievement Award during the event. Hennig joins past award winners such as Tim Schafer, Shigeru Miyamoto, Hideo Kojima, and Peter Molyneux to name just a few.
Hennig is most well-known for her time at Naughty Dog where she helped create the Uncharted franchise. Previously, she spent time at Crystal Dynamics where she worked on the Legacy of Kain series. Her most recent gig saw her working at Visceral Games on a new Star Wars project before EA shuttered the studio last year. Since that time, Hennig has said she wants to establish her own independent studio.
Katie Stern, GM of the Game Developers Conference, also gave a statement on Hennig’s selection to be awarded with this honor:
“Amy Hennig is a powerful figure in the game world; her work exemplifies what good game narrative can be, with pathos, humor, suspense and energy. She is truly one of the most influential developers in the games industry. These past accomplishments are just milestones in a career that we’ll be following for years to come, but for one night at the GDCAs, we’ll reflect on the hard work and artistry that makes game developers like Amy the heart of the industry.”
The Game Developers Choice Awards are set to take place next year on March 20 and will begin at 6:30 PM. If you have a GDC pass, you’ll be able to attend the ceremony for yourself.
GDC 2019 as a whole will take place in San Francisco from March 18 until the 22nd.
