Rovio Mobile's Angry Birds has become quite a hit in it's own right. When it first came out it seems everybody I knew was talking about it all the time; it seemed to be the only game they were playing. When it was released for free on Android platforms supported by ads, many people were curious of this decision (though thankful and not going to question it by any means).

The game has been downloaded more than five million times by Android users, and Rovio predicts that by the end of the year they will be making over $1 million on the ad-supported version. Angry Birds has been downloaded over 30 million times across all platforms, with 12 million of those coming from the paid App store. For the App store sales to keep up with the Android revenue, they'll have to sell 1.4 Million copies a month.

Either people really love free / cheap fun games, or they really hate birds. Classic literature has inclined me to think the latter, but what do I know?
