Animal Crossing and DOOM Eternal Fans Are Coming Together in a Wholesome Way on Reddit

As a reminder that good can happen in this world, Animal Crossing and DOOM fans are coming together to share their excitement for this March.

The internet is not exactly known for its kindness, and more often than not is highlighted by the toxicity and dark corners that plague the vast majority of it. However, in several instances we can see how communities and people can gather for good online and provide support and positivity. In the case of the Animal Crossing and DOOM communities, what initially seems like an unusual combination is coming together for good in an exciting month for both fandoms with the release of both Animal Crossing: New Horizons and DOOM Eternal on the same day.

Over on Twitter, one particular example of Wholesome Internet Content was provided by MrAgentStrange, who highlighted messages shared by the Animal Crossing and DOOM subreddits:

From the screencaps above, users from both the r/Doom and r/AnimalCrossing subreddits shared messages of encouragement and support (alongside wonderful fan art) to the other fan community in recognition of the fact that both games are releasing on March 20, 2020. Of course, fans aren’t the only ones excited for the games, as even id Software’s Hugo Martin said that he would be looking forward to playing Animal Crossing next month.

While this type of scenario might usually encourage competition or toxicity, instead it’s a wonderful moment as fans of these two series come together to celebrate two of the biggest game releases arriving this spring, with just over a month left until both games’ release. Of course, that’s letting alone the fact that the two games are completely different from one another, it’s still entertaining to see Doomguy hanging out with Isabelle, or seeing what Isabelle would look like inside of a Praetor Suit with a BFG.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch on March 20, 2020, while DOOM Eternal will be hitting the same day on PS4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia, with a Switch version of the game coming at a later date. You can pre-order both Animal Crossing and DOOM Eternal right now over at Amazon.
