Animal Crossing: New Horizons has helped millions of people from around the world to relax and escape the stresses of life.

The island living sim has endeared itself to players and it's range of events has helped the game remain relevant all year round.

The latest event (or lack of maybe) is today, with the world celebrating (and I use that word loosely) April Fools Day.

Here's everything that's happening in Animal Crossing: New Horizons on April Fools Day in 2021.

The Special Whoopee Cushion

For the last few days, players have been able to purchase a Whoopee Cushion from Nook Shopping.

The item has been available in the "Seasonal" section of the service and comes in a range of colours.

As April Fools Day is celebrated today and today only, players need to grab one quickly should they be looking to add it to their collection. After today, it will be gone.

From the tweet below, it looks like the villagers also want in on the act.

Players themselves have also started playing pranks on their villagers!

Is Anything Else Happening In Animal Crossing on April Fools Day 2021?

So far, it doesn't look like it. Players have started to notice special dialogue in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp but nothing yet in New Horizons.

We'll keep an eye out, however, and update this post should things start to happen.

What's next for New Horizons?

While there are plenty of minor events taking place in April, including Prom, Nature Day and more, there doesn't seem to be anything substantial lined up.

It's been a while since the last major event, Mario Items excluded, so I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo and Isabelle released a video some point soon, detailing something new and exciting for the game.
