The Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 update is bringing some fun design elements to the game - including shiny new permanent ladders.

One of the best parts about Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the ability to design the perfect island square by square. From placing fruit trees for peak aesthetic to terraforming mountains, island design is a real art form, and a complicated one at that.

The con to a highly decorated island is that it becomes difficult to navigate. Previously, players had to stick to a limited number of inclines or their ladder tool in order to travel around.

Now, the AC:NH 2.0 update brings a shiny new item to help traverse your island - the permanent ladder. Here's how you can unlock this wonderfully flexible item in the upcoming update.

HOW TO GET THE PERMANENT LADDER

The permanent ladder, or wooden ladder set-up kits, will be craftable like any other tool in-game. A fully upgraded Nook's Cranny will have the DIY recipe for sale for 2000 bells.

Additionally, Nintendo's Direct showcased ladders in various colors - red, white, and wooden - so it's safe to assume that they'll be customizable as well.

Though, ladder set-up kits aren't actually permanent. They are more like fixed ladders, able to be placed anywhere on the island and remain there until a player picks them up. And, unlike inclines, there are no limits to the number of these ladders players can have.

This means that ladders will incorporate more smoothly into island designs. Now, players can go crazy with the terraforming without worrying about how difficult traveling will be.

On top of it all, it looks like these ladders will have some other fun versions available. In the Direct, there were red and blue metal ladders as well as climbable ivy. The ivy appeared similar to the plants found on the mysterious islands via Kapp’n’s boat tours.

Players can look forward to using these ladders in the Animal Crossing 2.0 update! The update, as well as the Happy Home Paradise DLC, will be live in the Nintendo eShop on November 5th.
