For some fans it may still seem surreal, but a new Animal Crossing game is finally coming out. And now, it's not only available for pre-order but also pre-load.

That's right, you can play Animal Crossing: New Horizons on midnight of its release date, March 20. All it'll take is a pre-order and then the time to pre-load the game onto your Switch. Naturally, this will only work if you're planning on downloading the game. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is currently retailing at the usual AAA rate of $59.99 USD.

If you're worried about how much space New Horizons will take up on your Switch or micro SD card, you won't have to much longer. The title will only take up 7 GB of space, slightly more than Mario Odyssey's 5.7 GB and significantly less than Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's whopping 14 GB.

If you want the full Animal Crossing experience, you will have to pay a little more. Players that are subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online will be getting the ability to back up their saves, although Nintendo has not clarified how. It also is not entirely clear whether or not you'll need the service to use any of the game's multiplayer modes.

Nintendo also recently launched a special edition Switch for the launch of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. With a pastel green and blue theme, for its joy-cons and the Nook family on the front of the dock, it's a must-have for anyone getting a Switch for Animal Crossing.

You can pre-order Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the Nintendo E-Shop or here, on Nintendo's website.
