In a recent press release, Gillette Venus announced their Skinclusive Summer Line -- a set of download codes for Animal Crossing: New Horizons players who are looking to make their character's skin match their skin in real life. While studios have been looking for ways to add accessibility options to games, this is a pretty great way to add representation that we typically don't see in sim-based gaming.Using the "Custom Designs" app on the in-game Nookphone, Gillette Venus created wearable designs for players who's skin types are not represented in the vanilla game. For each of the 8 in-game skin tones, there are 19 skin type designs that include "Vitiligo Vibe," "Cellulite Lewk," and "Psoriasis Swagger" that can be worn on the face or on the body with a custom-designed outfit:

In the Venus Skinclusive Summer Line Lookbook, designer Nicole Cuddihy said that her inspiration for the summer line came from a comment on a cyborg design she had made about how the robotic arm reminded the commenter of their own prosthetic arm.

"I was inspired to use my art for more than aesthetics...I wanted to create designs I knew they would cherish– a bright dress for my confident friend who never hides her acne, a fashionable look for my artistic friend with a deep scar, and a feminine lacy top for my courageous aunt who underwent a mastectomy."

The Skinclusive Summer Line doesn't just cover skin types but also has a design for people with prosthetic legs. Venus said in the Lookbook that they hope to "spark a conversation on the development side of gaming to expand the diversity of avatar creation options the same way we have expanded the diversity of the women we portray in our advertising."
