Today at E3's Nintendo Direct, Animal Crossing has finally received its long-awaited release date and a brand new trailer for the Switch. Animal Crossing: New Horizons for the Nintendo Switch will be coming March 20, 2020. This news will surely bring a lot of joy to fans who have been waiting over seven years for the first mainline entry in the series since 2012’s New Leaf which originally released on 3DS in 2012 - not to mention DualShocker's editor Ryan who was ready to sell his soul.

We were first teased about the news that Animal Crossing: New Horizons was in development for the Switch at last year's Nintendo Direct live stream in September after it was revealed Isabelle would be joining the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster as a playable fighter and since then, fans have been chomping at the bit for more information - thankfully today, they got what they wanted, even though its not until next year. In the last teaser trailer, we saw Tom Nook make a solo return and mentioning that he needed to "make sure everyone has a nice, new place to come home to,"  so now, we can't wait to step foot once again into the world of Animal Crossing. Next March can't come soon enough!
